Choose gas by process
Mild-steel MIG
An argon/CO2 mix is the normal starting point for clean, stable mild-steel MIG welding. More CO2 generally increases penetration and spatter.
TIG welding
Pure argon is normally used for TIG on steel, stainless and aluminium. Flow is set in litres per minute using a suitable regulator or flowmeter.
Aluminium MIG
Aluminium MIG normally uses pure argon together with the correct wire, liner and drive rollers.
Regulators & fittings
Connections and pressure ranges differ. Match the regulator, hose and fittings to the gas, cylinder and process rather than relying on appearance alone.
Collection and safety
Collect from Unit 4 Brunel Gate, West Portway, Andover SP10 3SL, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm. Secure cylinders upright in a ventilated vehicle, protect the valve and follow the cylinder supplier's transport and storage instructions.
