Use pure argon for TIG and for aluminium MIG, an argon/CO2 mix (commonly 95/5) for mild-steel MIG, and pure argon or a tri-mix for stainless. Higher CO2 content gives deeper penetration with more spatter; more argon runs cleaner. Ask at the counter for cylinder sizes and the right mix for your process.
