What to look for

Use tinted welding curtains or screens to protect nearby workers from arc-eye without boxing the welder in, and lay fire-resistant blankets to catch spatter and protect surfaces and equipment below the work. Check the blanket's temperature rating suits the process — glass-fibre for general spatter, higher-spec for grinding sparks and heavy heat.
