TIG Welding Course

Our half day TIG welding course is perfect for both complete beginners, and those with some experience looking to quickly achieve the results they need.

Run by our experienced fabricators in our fully equipped production workshop, each course is tailored to working on what you want to weld – be it car bodywork, pipework/exhausts, sculpture or just general fabrication. With a maximum group size of just 4 people, you will get ‘straight to the point’, getting lots of practice time actually welding instead of spending hours on theoretical work. Our courses usually run from 9am - 3pm at our Andover based workshop.

For the complete beginner, a half day course would cover:

• Basic machine setup, gas and power connections
• Torch setup and consumable types
• How to set machine parameters for different material thicknesses (mild steel only)
• Practice and feedback on test coupons and square/round tubing parts in various positions
• Specific practice in areas of personal interest (participants with some experience can spend more time on this section)
• We can also offer instruction in aluminium TIG welding if required

A complete beginner can expect to finish the course being able to setup a machine, and achieve a decent weld in standard positions.

All equipment, PPE and consumables are provided for the course, as well as tea/coffee refreshments. Groups are a maximum of 4 participants with 1 experienced fabricator instructor, working in pairs sharing 1 set of equipment per pair. This allows you to watch each other practicing through a second helmet, and have more experience seeing the results of different techniques.

Course Requirements:

• No previous experience required
• All PPE and equipment is provided, however participants must wear closed shoes, long trousers and long sleeves for the course.
• All participants must be 18+
• Welding and fabrication is an inherently risky activity. You will be required to sign a waiver form at the start of the course – please contact us if you would like to see this in advance.
